Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Anarchy follows 5 students who are left stranded at their sixth form. They are thrown together in the midst of the ongoing crisis, where zombies are taking over in the North East, and must fight to survive against the odds in this 6-part series, as well as dealing with their own personal struggles.
The innovative, witty characters challenge our stereotypical ideas generated from the American teen dramas popular in today’s society, and provide the British youth with characters and problems they can relate to. This show is set to be a hit with the teens of today who crave the ability to identify with realistic characters, something that is lacking with the sun kissed LA teens who lead perfect lives that inhabit our TV screens.
As well as dealing with social issues predominant in today’s society, such as faith and homophobia, the show also has many comedic elements to it which are sustained throughout and offer relief within the more serious episodes.
Gripping storylines throughout the series promise to keep the teenage audience on the edges of their seat, as the characters continuously encounter danger, and rather skilfully battle for their safety. With action scenes that look as if they’ve jumped straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster, this is bound to draw the attention of action fans around the country.
Despite the fantastic storylines that follow in the series, the first episode is somewhat slow in pace in comparison to those, which may fail to draw in the action-hungry teens immediately, however the rest of the series well and truly makes up for this.

The young actors in this series must be commended for their ability and excellent portrayal of the characters in the series, as they tackle challenging and emotionally-driven storylines with great maturity, despite this being their first work within the television industry. In particular, Sophie Johnson’s feisty and emotional representation of Kitty Wildley highlights just how talented she is, as she takes on this challenging role and handles it with great expertise. Her character offers the teenage girls of today a strong role model, unlike those that some look up to from reality TV shows that have invaded our screens.
The extremely talented cast are more than on course to become the next big stars of our screens, with each of them showing the potential to grow from this and become the next big stars of the future.
Like a cross between Misfits and The Inbetweeners with zombies, Anarchy is set to take over our screens, and become the biggest teen drama of it’s time.
Anarchy will be coming to screens in the summer of 2013.
